Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Role Overview

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of commercial and financial aspects of construction projects, delivering both pre-contract and post-contract services.

This role ensures effective cost planning, tender evaluation, contract administration, and financial control to safeguard project profitability while maintaining compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cost Planning & Financial Control

Prepare and review detailed cost reports, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analysis.

Monitor project expenditures and ensure alignment with approved budgets.

Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management.

2. Tendering & BOQ Preparation

Prepare tender documents, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and detailed cost estimates.

Conduct quantity take-offs and pricing analysis.

Evaluate contractor bids and provide commercial recommendations.

3. Valuation & Payment Certification

Perform on-site measurements and quantity verification.

Prepare interim valuations and final account settlements.

Review and certify contractor payment applications.

4. Variations & Claims Management

Manage variations, change orders, and contractual claims.

Prepare and respond to contractual correspondence.

Negotiate variations and resolve commercial disputes.

5. Risk Management & Value Engineering

Identify potential commercial and cost risks.

Implement value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs without compromising quality.

Monitor cost trends and recommend corrective actions.

6. Team Leadership

Mentor and supervise Quantity Surveyors and measurement staff.

Provide technical guidance and ensure adherence to best commercial practices.

Support performance development and team capability building.

7. Compliance & Governance

Ensure compliance with local building regulations and industry standards.

Maintain adherence to company procedures and contractual obligations.

Support audit and commercial governance processes.

Experience Requirements:

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

Experience

10–15 years of proven experience in construction projects, including high-rise towers, residential, and commercial developments.

Strong exposure to projects within Qatar, UAE, or similar regional markets preferred.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in AutoCAD, PlanSwift, and construction ERP systems.

Strong knowledge of quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, and cost estimation methodologies.

Understanding of contract forms and commercial documentation.
