1. Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineering Manager will lead the mechanical application engineering team, ensuring all design deliverables meet technical, quality, and timeline standards. The role involves overseeing machine design, custom automation systems, documentation review, and cross-functional coordination. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in automation, semiconductor, or cleanroom-related projects, along with excellent leadership and problem-solving abilities.

2. Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Technical Leadership
Oversee the mechanical engineering team and ensure delivery of high-quality design outputs.
Provide technical leadership in designing custom material handling systems and automation equipment.
Review and approve conceptual designs, 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
Lead design improvement initiatives and drive standardization across product lines.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards such as SEMI and ISO.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Coordinate with Sales, Project Management, Electrical, and Software teams for complete system integration.
Support customer discussions during pre-sales and post-sales phases.
Manage and resolve escalated design or production-related issues through troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Team Leadership & Department Administration
Plan and manage departmental resources, including recruitment, coaching, and performance evaluations.
Develop and enforce SOPs, design guidelines, and quality control processes.
Monitor engineering KPIs such as schedule adherence, cost management, and customer satisfaction.
Manage departmental budgets, engineering tools, and software licenses.
Project & Risk Management
Evaluate project risks and develop mitigation plans.
Ensure high standards of technical quality, safety, and manufacturability.
Support continuous professional development and capability enhancement of team members.
3. Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Deep understanding of automation systems, machine design, and semiconductor/cleanroom industry requirements.
Proficiency in mechanical calculations, material selection, tolerance analysis, and ergonomics.
Familiarity with FMEA, DOE, product lifecycle processes, and risk management methodologies.
Knowledge
Strong grasp of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
Good understanding of SEMI standards and cleanroom equipment requirements (preferred).
Soft Skills
Excellent leadership and team development skills.
Strategic thinker with a hands-on, problem-solving approach.
Strong communication skills in English.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Effective decision-making and stakeholder coordination.
4. Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Engineering-related certifications are an added advantage.
