Position Summary
The Head – Trading Business Development will lead the creation, setup, and growth of MetroGlobal’s new trading vertical. This entrepreneurial leadership role combines strategic planning, business building, and operational execution across diverse product categories — including chemicals, commodities, metals, plastics, electronics, and agro products.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning & Business Setup
Develop a comprehensive roadmap for establishing and scaling the trading division.
Identify and prioritize high-potential product categories.
Define P&L projections, investment models, and risk frameworks.
Set up operational systems, compliance, and quality standards.
Build robust governance and trade risk management protocols.
2. Team Building & Leadership
Build and lead a multidisciplinary team across sourcing, sales, operations, finance, and logistics.
Hire domain experts for specialized verticals.
Define KPIs, incentive structures, and a performance-driven culture.
Drive accountability, innovation, and collaboration across teams.
3. Sourcing & Supply Chain Management
Identify and onboard reliable domestic and international suppliers.
Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and long-term contracts.
Develop vendor evaluation and quality assurance frameworks.
Mitigate supply risks through alternate sourcing strategies.
4. Sales & Business Development
Define go-to-market strategies across B2B and B2C segments.
Establish sales channels (direct, distributors, digital).
Develop pricing models ensuring competitiveness and profitability.
Build customer acquisition, retention, and key account programs.
5. Operations & Execution
Oversee end-to-end trade execution — from order to delivery.
Manage working capital and optimize cash flow cycles.
Implement inventory and logistics systems for seamless operations.
Ensure compliance with GST, import-export laws, and trade norms.
6. Financial Management
Deliver on revenue, profitability, and ROI targets.
Monitor credit, collections, and payment cycles.
Implement strong financial controls and audit processes.
Present performance reports to senior management and the board.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
MBA or PG in Business / Commerce from a reputed institute.
Technical qualification (B.Tech/B.E./B.Sc.) preferred.
Experience:
15–20 years of overall experience in trading, sourcing, or business development.
7–10 years in leadership roles with P&L ownership.
Proven record of establishing or scaling trading operations.
Deep domain exposure in at least 2–3 categories (e.g., chemicals, metals, agro, plastics, commodities).
Strong understanding of domestic and international trade ecosystems.
